MEET OUR TEAM

KELLY DUTTON | Owner/Trainer
Kelly has been riding horses since she was 5 years old. She has always been passionate about horses, and knew since childhood that a career in horses was her dream. Kelly has worked all over the horse industry, from camp counselor to grooming and galloping racehorses, but her specialty has always been hunters/jumpers.
Kelly managed a residential riding program at an upscale girls’ camp outside NYC and taught lessons at a busy Chicago barn, Double J Riding Club, before coming to Kansas City. She started her career here as an assistant at Summer Hill Farm, and quickly went on to open her own facility.
Kelly’s focus is on classical riding, and she strives to improve her own riding with clinics and pro lessons. She has ridden with George Morris, Greg Best, and 3-day eventing Olympian Hawley Bennet, among many others. She brings her dedication to classically correct riding to her training and lesson program.

MARIA SPIDLE | Assistant Trainer/Barn Manager
Horses have been part of Maria’s life since she was 6 years old. She started out riding western, and later found her passion in eventing in 2020. Over the years, Maria has owned 3 horses of her own, beginning with her first horse she purchased at 16. She truly understands the level of care, attention, and trust that goes into owning and boarding a horse.
Maria has been part of the WEF team since 2024, but her horse career began well before that. As a teenager, she helped with barn chores and maintenance at her local barn, eventually working her way into a position as a professional groom in a busy Saddlebred show barn. There, Maria learned the importance of consistency, detail, and creating a calm, organized environment for both horses and riders.
At WEF, Maria oversees the day-to-day care of all the horses at our facility and conducts lessons for our younger riders. She enjoys being part of each rider’s journey, whether a boarder trusting WEF with your horse, or a new rider just getting started, Maria takes pride in creating positive and welcoming environment where both horses and riders can thrive.

MADDY BLURTON | Assistant Trainer/Riding Instructor
Maddy has been involved in Hunter/Jumpers for over 20 years, and brings a well-rounded background in riding, training, horsemanship, and horse care to WEF. She has competed on the rated circuit in both Florida and the Chicago area, gaining experience in competitive hunter/jumper programs while developing a strong foundation in classical riding and horse management.
In addition to ongoing education through clinics and hands-on experience, Maddy has trained with respected professionals including Don Stewart and Diane Carney. Her background also includes developing her own horse from a green four-year-old into a successful 3′ hunter. Through that experience, Maddy developed a deep appreciation for the patience, consistency, and individualized care that horses need to thrive both in and out of the ring.
Maddy has been a working student and show groom at a competitive A-Show barn in Chicago, and has spent multiple summers teaching at riding camps. She is passionate about helping both horses and riders build confidence, develop solid fundamentals, and achieve their goals in a positive and supportive environment.
Planning your first visit to the farm? Please bring a completed waiver for all riders.
